The destruction of hurricanes Ike and Hanna made headlines earlier this month when they left hundreds homeless along the nation’s Gulf Coast. But 70 years ago today, a hurricane cut a swath across New England, leveling parts of the Monadnock Region. In interviews this week with The Sentinel, some survivors shared their memories of the storm.

FPU sweeps in volleyball
Senior Emily Schultz tallied 10 kills in one match and six kills with 10 digs in another on Saturday to lead the Franklin Pierce volleyball team to a pair of 3-0 wins at the Swamp Fox Invitational in Florence, S.C.
