New Hampshire Non-Profits Host Panel Discussion and Public Training on Healthcare Reform in 2009 Join Working Families Win, NH Citizens Alliance, and Other Local Non-Profits to Discuss and Support Expanding Access to Quality, Affordable Healthcare for All Keene, NH – A collection of New Hampshire non-profits will host a panel discussion and training titled “Quality Affordable Health Care for All in 2009: What It Is and Steps to Achieve It” on Wednesday, June 10th, from 6 pm to 9 pm in the Kay Fox Room at the Keene Public Library. The workshop is the second of a two-part series sponsored by Working Families Win and NH Citizens Alliance which combines an educational panel discussion with an advocacy and skills training session. The panelists will focus on the major public policy debates on national healthcare reform; discuss the public health insurance option and Medicare; and talk about the plan to include everyone in healthcare reform, including low income people, immigrants, and people of color. There will also be time for Q&A following the panel discussion. Panelists for this event include David Desiderato from Northeast Action, Ben Chin from Maine People’s Alliance, Terry Lochhead from NH Alliance for Retired Americans, and Jaime Contois from Working Families WIN. Following the panel discussion, participants will have the option of attending either a health equities training or an advocacy skills training session. In these trainings, participants will learn more about racial inequities in our current healthcare system, how to effectively contact their members of Congress, and how to best use the media to amplify their voices for quality, affordable health care reform. Sabrina Johnson from the NH Citizens Alliance and Ivette Luna from Ocean State Action will lead a training on health equities. David Desiderato and Jaime Contois from Working Families Win will host a training titled Advocacy Skills to Move Reform. The discussion around national health care reform is moving at a rapid pace. Grassroots advocacy is one of the most effective tools for stopping special interest groups and insurance industry leaders who are working hard to derail the growing movement for healthcare for all. Join us as we come together to learn more and develop our skills for effective advocacy.
